Ivica Dacic comments on demand to hold snap parliamentary elections in Serbia

Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said today that there is no reason to hold early parliamentary elections in Serbia, and added that those who demand them do not understand that elections would mark "the end of their dream."
"Serbia needs political stability and continued economic development. In my opinion, there is no reason for any early parliamentary elections. The government has a stable parliamentary majority," he told TV Pink, referring to the demand made by the students taking part in blockades to dissolve the Assembly and call snap elections.
Dacic added that he does not support that kind of elections, but only regular ones.
"I never hid that, not because I'm afraid of the results. I don't even think they understand that could be the end of their dream," said the deputy prime minister.
"You remember that in the beginning they said that they had nothing to do with politics, that they were not even looking for a change of government, they distanced themselves from the opposition and so on. However, there are certainly those who want to use this situation as a cover to eliminate the negative connotations attached to certain opposition parties," Dacic said, and concluded:
"They see that the opposition cannot win an election, and they assess that the opposition should not even run in the elections, but that someone else should come in. This is more of a blow to the opposition than it is to the government."
