Informal university group continues protest in front of Serbian Government building

A protest organized by the informal group "Pobunjeni Univerzitet" ("Rebellious University") continued today, for the fourth day in a row, in front of the Serbian Government building.
A small group of people are still blocking the intersection of Kneza Milosa and Nemanjina streets, one of the busiest in Belgrade.
On Monday, members of the academic community, students taking part in blockades sand citizens who support them set up tents and a fence on all sides of the intersection, and traffic continues to be suspended.
Those gathered are currently mostly in tents, as well as under parasols that are placed in the middle of the street.
At the beginning of the protest on Monday, those representing the group submitted their demands to the Government of Serbia. They wanted the working group drafting a new Law on Higher Education be disbanded, the amended Decree on University Standards to be be repealed, as well as to adopt budget quotas for university enrollment by the end of June at the latest.
Faculty of Electrical Engineering Professor Drazen Draskovic told a press conference yesterday that, although the Government of Serbia earlier in the day canceled the decision on the working group, the other two demands have still not been met, and that the protesters will wait for the decision regarding the working group to be published on the website of the Official Gazette.
They announced yesterday that they will remain in front of the Serbian Government building until their demands have been met.
The organizers says that they registered the gathering, "Faculties at Crossroads," with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
