Ambassador Li Ming: China and Serbia share tradition of preserving unity; friendship is now at highest level

China and Serbia share a tradition of preserving unity and integrity, and the friendship between the two countries is currently at the highest level in history, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming said today.

Speaking at the Overseas Chinese World Conference for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China, Li said that the fact today's gathering is held in Belgrade is proof of the strong friendship between the two countries, and its development.

The diplomat stressed that the friendship between President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and President of China Xi Jinping has raised the cooperation between the two countries to the highest level in history.

Vice-President of the National Assembly of Serbia Marina Ragus said that China and Serbia have a long history of friendship, especially in the fight against fascism.

Ragus added that the proof of the trust that China has in Serbia is the free trade agreement that is the foundation for further development of economic cooperation.

Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Deputy Chairman of the Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification of China Cai Dafeng said that the reunification of China is a general trend of development and in line with the people's sentiment, and that no force can stop it.

Cai added that it is necessary to jointly safeguard the achievements of victory in WW2, plan for long-term prosperity on both sides of the Straits, and promote exchanges and learning between China and the world.

The Belgrade Declaration will be adopted at the conference.

The event is also attended by the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, acting Secretary General Ambassador Dusan Kozarev, Assistant Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Milos Terzic and acting Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation Ambassador Tamara Rastovac Siamasvili.
