Members of the KFOR mission in Kosovo and Metohija are installing new signs along the administrative line between Kosovo and central Serbia in order to

"help reduce the risk of accidental crossings."

"Due to the mountainous and forested nature of the terrain, these signs are being placed to clearly mark KFOR’s area of operations and will help reduce the risk of accidental crossings," KFOR announced.

It added that this activity is in line with KFOR's mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244, "to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo."

A statement continues to say that KFOR is implementing its UN mandate to "contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially" - and that KFOR "works in close coordination with the Kosovo police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles."
