Warplanes and helicopters "buzzing" over Belgrade all day: Serbian Ministry of Defense explains why

Since this morning, Belgraders have been noticing frequent flyovers of military planes in various parts of the city, which has caused a series of questions and comments on social networks. Nevertheless, there is a reason for the increased activity in the airspace - preparations are underway for the promotion of the youngest officers of the Army, the Serbian Ministry of Defense explained.
"Military planes and a helicopter are circling over Kumodraz. It's been like this for an hour," the moj_beo_grad Instagram account cited a Belgrader.
The ceremony promoting the youngest officers of the Serbian Army will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, starting at 10:00 in the barracks in Banjica, the Ministry of Defense announced, while a rehearsal exercise has been taking place today, which is why military aircraft are flying over Belgrade.

186 cadets will be promoted to Serbian Army officers on Saturday - namely, 166 cadets from the 145th and 146th classes of the Military Academy and 20 cadets from the 11th class of the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy.
Two cadets from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and four cadets from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Serb Republic (RS) will also graduate from the Serbian Military Academy.
