Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met today in Belgrade with EU's special representative for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina Peter Sorensen.

According to Vucic, the conversation was open and focused on the possibilities for continuing the dialogue with Pristina with the mediation of the EU, as well as on the challenges we face when it comes to the position of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija.

"I pointed out that it is of essential importance for the dialogue to return to the fundamental principles on which it was based, first of all, the obligation to form the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO), as well protects the rights of our citizens in Kosovo and Metohija," Vucic said in a post on Instagram.

He stressed that the attempt to ban the participation of the Serb List in the upcoming local elections in Kosovo and Metohija once again confirms that the respect for basic rights and the freedom of political activity for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija is under threat.

"Our policy is a policy of peace, firmly committed to seeking compromise solutions through dialogue, but also a decisive and responsible fight to preserve state and national interests," Aleksandar Vucic stressed.

The president added that only with mutual respect, taking clear responsibility and fully implementing what has already been agreed upon, can there be talk of true stability for the entire region.
