Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is in Beijing: China to hold big military parade to celebrate Victory Day

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has arrived in Beijing where he will attend celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War (WW2).
Vucic was invited by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The Serbian president was welcomed by Chinese Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Wang Xiaoping and Deputy Chairman of the Beijing People's Congress Pang Lijuan.
The leading Chinese media have reported that Vucic arrived in Beijing for the marking of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War.
During his visit to Beijing, Vucic will meet with Xi, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, as well as with senior Chinese officials and representatives of large companies.
On September 3, the Serbian president will attend the military parade organized on the occasion of Victory Day. Leaders of 26 countries have been invited to the event.
Vucic met with Xi during his visit to Beijing in October 2023, when 18 agreements were signed, including the Agreement on Free Trade between Serbia and China.
Xi visited Serbia in May 2024, as well as in 2016, which was the first visit of a Chinese President to Serbia after 32 years, when the Declaration on Strategic Partnership was signed.
In May 2024, during Xi's visit to Serbia, the two presidents signed a joint declaration on deepening and raising the comprehensive strategic partnership and building a common future community between Serbia and China, and exchanged 28 documents focused on cooperation.
