Vucic has very important political message for Putin after their meeting in Beijing

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today, after his meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, that cooperation with Russia is very important for Serbia.

"Cooperation at the highest level with Russia in all areas is extremely important for Serbia, and I hope that we will have the opportunity not only to preserve, but also to improve some aspects of our cooperation. Energy is particularly important for us, and the supply of gas is of great importance for the stability of our country," said Vucic.

He added that the talks with Putin opened up space for additional strengthening of the partnership in the key sectors, including energy, infrastructure and bilateral relations.

The meeting between the two leaders considered a wide range of topics - from the gas arrangement and oil supply, large infrastructure projects, and improvement of political and economic cooperation between Serbia and Russia.

No sanctions

"Since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, Serbia has been in a very difficult situation and under great pressure, but regardless of that, we have managed to maintain our principled position, we are the only country in Europe that has not imposed any sanctions against the Russian Federation, and we will preserve our neutrality going forward," the Serbian president said.

Vucic and Putin met in Bejing, where Vucic also met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, as well as with other high-ranking Chinese officials and representatives of large companies, the presidential press service announced.

On September 3, Vucic will attend a military parade organized to mark the anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War (WW2). Leaders from 26 countries have been invited to the event.
