Serbian National Assembly President Ana Brnabic said today that the SNS (Serbian Progressive Party) has a very good dialogue with the European People's Party (EPP), as well as  that it maintains constant communication with their representatives, adding that on October 2 and 3, she will attend the meeting of international secretaries of that party in Barcelona.

She added that after that a delegation will talk with the EPP leadership in Brussels on October 22.

"But the very fact that I am going to attend the meeting of international secretaries of the EPP tomorrow, and that Minister Nemanja Starović, as a member of the SNS, participated in the EPP delegation in Lebanon, just a few days ago, speaks of how fake the news is and how much they are trying to manipulate information about the Serbian Progressive Party being on the verge of being kicked out of the EPP," Brnabic told a press conference on Wednesday.

She repeated that the SNS has good communication, participates in work and all activities, and that it is good for Serbia that the Progressives are in the EPP.

"But those who insist that the Serbian Progressive Party be expelled from the EPP want some other things for Serbia. Never, unfortunately, particularly good things for Serbia," said Brnabic.

Responding to claims made in some opposition media that the Progressives are putting pressure on the EPP to be more lenient on the issue of Serbia in the European Parliament, Brnabic said that she does not think there is too much interest in discussing the situation in Serbia and that the "blockaders" (anti-government protesters) have fired another shot and missed, or fired into the void.

"As far as I saw this morning, only 18 speakers signed up for that discussion, seven of which are from Serbia, so that says enough about the interest in that topic. I think that by now everyone has all relevant information and that it is well known what is happening in Serbia, what happened in the previous ten months..." said Brnabic.

She added that "all of us together managed to refute, and above all the blockaders themselves, the lies and manipulations about peaceful protests and non-violent demonstrations where some young people simply wanted justice."

"So there is no need for us to talk too much about it. We can, as I once did at a meeting with Quint ambassadors, just play a video of what those blockader protests look like and that speaks more than a thousand words. Everything is clear to everyone, so there is no need, and apparently there is no longer excessive interest," said Brnabic.
