Full membership in the EU remains our clear and permanent strategic commitment, which we have at no point given up on, said the prime minister of Serbia.

Macut presented the challenges in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, stressed the readiness for talks with civil society in connection with the reform process and pointed out that the goal is to create a stable, economically strong European country which, as an equal member of the union, would contribute to peace, cooperation and prosperity of the whole of Europe.

Von der Leyen praised the efforts of the Government of Serbia to strengthen institutions, improve the rule of law and develop an economy based on innovation and green technologies, a statement said.

She pointed out that Serbia's progress on the European path is noticeable, but that there is still plenty of room for improvement in cooperation with the EC and in implementation of reforms.

The interlocutors reiterated their common position that it is necessary to intensify immediate cooperation in numerous areas and for Serbia and the EU to continue to deepen their partnership towards a common future.
