Andjelkovic: With Pristina election commission's decision, Kurt's message is he does not want Serbs in Kosovo
The director of Poste Srbije (postal service of Serbia) and the former president of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, Zoran Andjelkovic, said today that with the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) in Pristina not to verify the Serb List for elections in Kosovo and Metohija on December 28, the outgoing prime minister of the provisional institutions of Pristina, Albin Kurti, is sending a message that he does not want Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and that he will use any method to expel them.
Andjelkovic told Tanjug that it has already become standard practice to revoke the right of the Serb List to participate in elections, as was the case in the local elections and in the elections in February, which, he pointed out, did not result in anything - considering that it has been almost a year since the provisional institutions could not be formed in Pristina, which is why elections are being held again.
He noted that the attempt to ban the Serb List from participating is happening for the third time without Kurti suffering any sanctions for it and without criticism from any EU spokesperson, who would openly say that he cannot act in this way against the clearly expressed will of the citizens of Serb nationality in Kosovo and Metohija.
"The Serb (List) won in all the municipalities (with Serb majority) in the local elections, while in the elections on February 9 they won nine parliamentary seats out of 10. It is clear that 95 percent of the Serbs support the Serb List," Andjelkovic said and added that it is unacceptable that no one in the European Parliament has anything to say about Pristina's attempt to ban the participation of the Serb List in elections.
According to Andjelkovic, Kurti is counting on this kind of policy towards Serbs to win over voters, especially the most extreme ones among the Albanians.
Andjelkovic pointed out that the most important thing for the Serbs in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija at the moment is that the takeover of local self-governments and municipalities will begin today and added that, although it will not be easy for the Serbs to take over local self-government again and cancel all the decisions made by Kurti, it is important that the Serbs are in control their areas.
Commenting on the fact that the move by the Pristina election commission has been condemned by the OSCE Mission, the EU Office in Pristina, the ambassadors of the US, Britain and Germany, Andjelkovic said that this was positive, but not enough, and stressed that it is necessary for EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Kaja Kallas, and the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, to condemn this so that it can be said that is really the position of the EU.
When asked whether Kurti and Self-Determination losing power would significantly change the conditions in Kosovo and Metohija, Andjelkovic assessed that their departure from power would certainly change something, but added that it depends on how a new coalition is formed and whether it will want to create a multi-ethnic society or will continue to follow Kurti's policy when it comes to the stance towards non-Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija.
"We are only asking for the ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalities) to finally be formed, to enable Serbs to live in Kosovo and Metohija, for hospitals and schools to operate normally, for our property in Kosovo and Metohija to not be stolen so that post offices and postmen can work normally. I (Poste Srbije) still receive electricity bills from all those post offices even though they (Albanians) took those buildings, that's unheard of. I expect that finally some European Parliament or European Commission spokesperson will react," Andjelkovic said.
