The body of a 40-year-old man was found today in a pool of blood in the garden of a well-known cafe in the strict center of Belgrade, and it is suspected that he fell from a building for yet unknown reasons.

According to initial unofficial information obtained by Telegraf.rs, the man's body was discovered by one of the workers immediately after arriving at work, who called the police and an ambulance.

"They say that a man jumped from the fifth floor. It's really scary, ever since this morning everything is teeming with police, and the ambulance crew had to transport a woman who got taken ill for treatment," a neighbor told Telegraf.rs.

A funeral company vehicle arrived to the scene and, after the investigation at the site was completed, took over the body, while the street was blocked by a police car during that time.

"God forbid it happens to anyone. If it's true that he killed himself... I can't believe it. I didn't know what was happening, I just saw the ambulance and the police, so I thought maybe there had been a fight. All sorts of things happen here," said one passer-by.

The emergency team that came to the scene could only pronounce the victim dead, while his identity has not yet been officially announced, but it is assumed that he was a younger person.

Although at first a violent death was suspected due to traces of blood, the first results of the investigation point to another theory.

"Initial information from the field indicates that the unfortunate man most likely fell from the building under circumstances that are still being ascertained," source close to the investigation told Telegraf.rs.

By order of the competent prosecutor's office, an autopsy and a toxicology report have been ordered to determine the exact cause of death, as well as whether this was an accident, suicide, or the result of a criminal act.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are also checking footage from security cameras on surrounding buildings in this neighborhood of Belgrade in order to reconstruct the movement of the now deceased man before the tragedy.
