Serbian Deputy PM and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic, who is also the head of the Emergency Situations HQ, said on Friday that this body will be meeting every Thursday after the sessions of the Government of Serbia in order to better respond to possible weather disasters in the coming months.

"Immediately after the announcement of an extreme situation, we activated all possible resources, and on January 5, Prime Minister Macut and I were at the Emergency Situations HQ, and since then our activity has been around the clock. Bearing in mind that these extreme phenomena will certainly happen in the coming months, we will have meetings every Thursday in order to look at the situation and see what we need to do," Dacic said during today's meeting of the Emergency Situations HQ.

According to him, all managers of sectors and companies in Serbia should make an analysis of what needs to be done to prevent problems going forward.

"I would like you to come up with an analysis to see what needs to be done, what measures need to be taken, what we need in order to face possible questions and problems," said Dacic.

He stressed that the Emergency Situations HQ exists to help citizens, which is why they need to know the truth about the overall situation.

"Citizens should know the truth, we are here to help them and, after all, that is our basic function," said Dacic.

According to him, the Emergency Situations HQ should coordinate the work of all competent state bodies, institutions, local self-governments and companies, in the interest of citizens.
