Petkovic and Botsan Kharchenko discuss Kosovo and Metohija and latest round of Belgrade-Pristina dialogue
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic met today with Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia Aleksandr Botsan Kharchenko, whom he informed about the political and security situation in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija and the latest round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina held recently in Brussels.
According to the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petkovic told his interlocutor that after numerous meetings in Brussels, a significant step has been taken when it comes to the implementation of the Declaration on Missing Persons and that the first meeting of the Joint Commission on Missing Persons has been held.
Petkovic pointed out that this time, once again, he was also asking for concrete and tangible steps to be taken to form the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) and added that Pristina continues with unlawful, unilateral and escalating moves that threaten the survival, peace and security of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija.
He specifically cited numerous examples of institutional and physical violence and terror carried out by Pristina, trampling on even the basic human rights of our people.
It is important, Petkovic stressed, that the international community realizes the many dangers arising from Pristina's announcement of implementing so-called laws on foreigners and vehicles, and takes concrete steps in that sense, as well as that Belgrade will continue to fight for the legitimate rights of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija through all diplomatic channels, when it comes to these, but also other issues of key importance for the life and survival of the Serb people.
The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija conveyed his gratitude to the Russian ambassador for the principled position of the Russian Federation on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and for that country's respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, and of UN Security Council's Resolution 1244, the Office said in a statement.
