Yesterday brought true winter cold and a snowstorm to Serbia.

Up to 20 centimeter of fresh snow fell, up to 40 cm on the mountains of eastern and southwestern Serbia.

This caused a collapse in western Serbia, both in terms of traffic and in households, as more than 1,000 people were left without electricity.

On the mountains, some scenes were reminiscent of fairy tales, as huge snowdrifts formed on Mt. Golija. Road maintenance crews were working around the clock, but strong wind made their job difficult.

One video taken on Golija showed an eerie, almost cinematic scene. A man, barely discernible, standing in the middle of a blizzard! Is this the eeriest scene since yesterday?

Today, the sky will be clear in the north of Serbia and Belgrade, while it will remain cold, around 0-1° Celsius.

It is cloudier and slightly warmer in the south and east of Serbia.

The cyclone that brought heavy precipitation from the Adriatic has moved across our area further to the east, towards the Black Sea and now continues its journey northeast towards Eastern Europe.
