The president of the Supervisory Board of Srbijagas (Serbia's public natural gas enterprise), Aleksandar Vulin, told RT Balkan this morning that he believes Serbia can expect to sign a long-term gas agreement with Russia.

Vulin pointed to the fact that even in Russian politics there are those who say - 'what do we need Serbia for, it has aligned itself with the European Union, it's time to put an end to that misconception' - but added that what is good that this is not the official position of the Russian state.

"Of course, that is not the position of the Kremlin and the Russian state policies, and I am grateful for that. If I have a little influence in Russia, I spend it precisely on asking Russia to never stop fighting for Serbia, and one of the ways to fight for Serbia is to supply energy in this way. I am grateful above all to President Putin for that," Vulin said and recalled that we were receiving gas during the past winter because Serbia's word was trusted, and at a significantly discounted price.
