Serbian PM Macut says cooperation with Serb Republic will be improved in infrastructure and education
Prime Minister Djuro Macut said today that Serbia and the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina) will improve cooperation in the future in the field of infrastructure and education and announced construction of road and railway routes, a border crossing between Serbia and the RS, as well as launching of daily flights between the two countries.
After meeting with RS Prime Minister Savo Minic, Macut said it was a continuation of the meetings between Serbia and the RS that were agreed earlier and announced that the next meeting between the two governments will be held in the town of Trebinje on May 23.
According to him, concrete solutions and issues related to traffic infrastructure will be discussed in Trebinje.
"In this regard, we had a very constructive conversation about impriving traffic between the two countries, that includes flights, so I hope that we will soon come out with new proposals for faster and easier communication in this regard," said Macut.
Macut stressed that today, the discussion covering several fields has been made more concrente, among which is the infrastructure segment, as the most represented and the most significant.
"It is the construction of roads, but also a railway between Mokra Gora and Visegrad, and the border crossing between RS and Serbia, which, I hope, we will strengthen in the traffic sense, and we will complete that stretch this year. This will allow our citizens to communicate in a faster and easier way," said Macut.
The prime minister added that within the framework of improving relations, he will establish strategic cooperation in the field of education and science where the RS should be connected and integrated into the scientific space of Serbia and have easier access to funds.
Macut added that Serbia and the RS will have a permanent committee that will sit at the highest level in order to monitor everything that has been decided on in the previous period.
"What remains is energy, which is also an important segment that in the coming period will represent a historic step forward in communication between Serbia and the RS, i.e., connecting energy systems between the two countries," said Macut.
The prime minister thanked the RS delegation for coming to Belgrade, and welcomed them to Serbia.
"I welcome them, going forward as well. We will be changing locations (of meetings), it will not always be Belgrade, those will be operational meeting places between our people," the prime minister said.
