The Provisional Institutions of Pristina and Turkey have signed an agreement on military-financial cooperation, which stipulates that the Turkish government will provide Pristina with 200 million Turkish liras, i.e. a little less than 4 million euros, in order to strengthen the capacities of the so-called of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF).

The provisional institution's ministry of defense said that the agreement was signed by Minister Ejup Maqedonci and Minister of Defense of Turkey Yasar Guler.

In recent years, Pristina has intensified the procurement of weapons for the so-called KSF, acquiring TB2 drones from Turkey, as well as US-manufactured Puma drones.

Last December, Pristina announced that it was buying US mobile artillery systems HUMVEE Hawkeye 105mm Mobile Howitzer, while at the end of November the process of acquiring Black Hawk helicopters from the US was underway, as well as plans to build an ammunition factory near Djakovica.

In addition, in March 2025, Pristina signed a defense cooperation agreement with Croatia and Albania.

According to UN Security Council Resolution 1244, KFOR is the only armed formation allowed in Kosovo and Metohija.

However, in 2009, Pristina formed the so-called KSF by transforming the so-called KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army"), and then in 2018 the assembly of the provisional institutions, without the presence of Serb deputies, adopted a law on transforming the so-called KSF into an army.

According to the media in Pristina, the so-called KSF currently has around 4,700 active members.
