– People, this is not a joke. I am dead serious. Liberland je is a new state on the map of Europe– says Jedlička. According to his words, most people who applied to live in Liberland are from Serbia and Croatia, and there are a lot of Hungarians, Czechs, and Turks. Citizenship applications are sent by people from America, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, but also from Cayman Islands and Taiwan.

Jedlička says that he found sponsors who would fund roads and buildings. Despites the dispute that Serbia and Croatia have over that piece of land, he explains that on Wikipedia and Google he came across different information.

– I was looking for a place where I could establish a state. I opted for this piece of land because I saw on Wikipedia that it doesn’t belong to anyone... And that is how I proclaimed it Libreland.

Jedlička says he would like to meet leaders from Serbia and Croatia - Tomislav Nikolić i Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, in order to develop good “neighboring” relations.

He is serious in his intentions to establish a state, building houses and buildings and selling state land as a plan. Despite stories that Serbia and Croatian have disputes over this land, I honestly think that they are not interested in it and that we will be accepted as good neighbors.

– For now in Liberland there is a house that represents the presidency. But I am currently in the middle negotiations with a few sponsors who are willing to build new buildings and roads. When I look at all the offers, we will start building after people inhabit it – says Jedlička for “Informer”.

This Czech claims that people apply for citizenship because of taxes that will be paid on a voluntary basis.

– What makes Liberland attractive to people is taxes. Unlike other countries that take more for social, pension and tax more than the amount of the salary is, in my country everybody would give as much as they can. If someone doesn’t have money or a company had a bad year, they can pay just one Euro. The state is organized in such a way that there are no large costs, and expenses can be lower. Something like Monaco, but much cheaper – said the “president of” Liberland.
