On this date, March 24, 17 years ago sirens became a regular part of life in Serbia and bombs from their airplanes were falling across country, destroying bridges, cities, factories, hospitals, cultural monuments, killing grownups and children!

We visited one of the most well-known US military bases MacDill on Florida, out of where US airplanes flew towards Aviano base and then Serbia!

On March 24, 1999, NATO air force started dropping bombs on Yugoslavia during which somewhere between 759 and 4.000 people died.

According to the official investigation, at least 2.500 people died (according to some sources even 4.000) and 1.008 members of the Army and police force.

Humanitarian rights fund claims that the number of killed was 759.

In their data base "Kosovo book of remembrance" from 2015, they claim that since the beginning of 1998 up to 2000 in fights on Kosovo and Metohija died 13.500 people, out of which 10.800 Albanians, 2.200 Serbs and about 500 Roma population and others.

We visited the military base, looked around and observed the war machines that flew towards Serbia.

MacDill Air Force Base is an active US Air Force located about 5 km from the city Tampa, Florida.

It was constructed just about before the WWII.

During the 1950s and 1960s it was a Strategic Air Command base for B-47 and later on B-52 bombarders.

Around 15.000 people are working in this base, with many other people and their families living inside the base.
