UEFA acknowledged Kosovo in a scandalous way!

On the 40th UEFA Congress in Budapest, the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo today became a member of UEFA.

Kosovo was accepted by a simple majority vote, even though the amendment for changing the UEFA Statute about the membership of accepted countries that are not the members of UN has failed by two third of the votes.

The so-called. Kosovo has become the 55th member of UEFA.

Serbian Football Association president Tomislav Karadzic tried to defend indefensible:

Karadzic: We should defend football from politics, together

The members of UEFA are on a secret ballot at the UEFA Congress in Budapest rejected the proposal for which was necessary two-thirds majority of 54 votes, total of 36.

The proposition of Switzerland did not pass with only three votes short, but no matter that case, there will be a voting about accepting the Kosovo Association.

At the UEFA Congress, which on is held on Tuesday in Budapest, one of the item on the agenda will be the admission of Kosovo to membership of the European Football Union.

Congress attends Serbian Football Association president Tomislav Karadzic and he, before he started the debate on Kosovo's admission, made a speech, which we will convey  in its entirety from the site of the Alliance.

"Dear friends, the delegates of the Congress of UEFA. It is my great honor and pleasure to greet you on behalf of the Football Association of Serbia (FAS).

I sincerely hoped that on this subject I would never have to speak in front of you, firmly believing that we will be able to keep politics away from football, that's one of the basic postulates of UEFA and that it will be intact and that our policy will not interfere in football. However, since the question of accepting the Football Association of the self-proclaimed state of Kosovo in the UEFA listed as an item on the agenda of today's Congress, I am afraid to have seriously shaken the foundations for which football in the world today that is, much more than a sport. Therefore, I am convinced that at this point, I as president of the Football Association of Serbia, not defending here only the sovereignty and territorial integrity of my country than football, but at the same time defend the football than politics!

Football Association of Serbia, I want to emphasize right now, will never vote for and support the precedents of this type, which is scheduled to be knocking on doors and other members of UEFA. Of course, be sure that the Football Association of Serbia is not against that football, including the international level, the game in all parts of our continent, and that young players have the opportunity to test their skills and knowledge compared with athletes from other countries. However, as always, consistently, that we are opposed to an alliance that does not formally meet the requirements for admission and membership, to become a full member of the European football organization.

Simply, football should not exceed the line and remake the borders of any one country. A reception of the self-proclaimed state of Kosovo under the auspices of UEFA would mean just that. Before the eyes of the world policy could in the worst possible way abuse football. That is why today we have to say NO. No political interference in football!

Ever since 2012, the Football Association of Serbia with all its legal remedies strongly opposed and fought against the idea that this issue does come before the most important members of the body, and along the way our great struggle we have always had the support of UEFA and FIFA. And for that we are grateful. Let me remind you on a very important fact, which is that the so-called state of Kosovo is not a member of the United Nations, and has recently been rejected and its admission to UNESCO!

Also, throughout the process of accepting of Kosovo's membership of UEFA there are serious procedural and legal shortcomings. FS Kosovo's applied for membership in March 2015, means the time period until today, the current UEFA Statutes, which in Article 5, paragraph 1, explicitly states that the right to become members of UEFA are the national football associations of the United Nations recognized as an independent state! It comes to mind the attitude of the Executive Committee of UEFA of the meeting held on 17 September 2015, when it was decided that the issue of Kosovo acceptance was put the next regular meeting of the UEFA Congress, without giving any recommendations or attitude, positive or negative, on this issue. The question is which body of UEFA is determined that the documentation submitted by the Kosovo with a request for membership, is correct and in accordance with the provisions of Article 2 of the Ordinance on the Implementation of the Statute of the UEFA? Congress participants have not received nor the review nor the documentation relating to the acceptance of Kosovo's membership, and because of all this we believe that UEFA's Legal Commission had to give its opinion on this matter, which should be at the core of being a legal question, without any interference policy.

In consideration of the case should be borne in mind that Kosovo and Metohjia, according to the valid and binding covenant Security Council Resolution 1244, part of the Republic of Serbia administered by the United Nations. And if you respect the Resolution 1992 of the United Nations on the basis of which the team later of Yugoslavia, was unable to participate at the European Championship in Sweden, why would today be "deaf and blind" crossed through a resolution of the United Nations!? Therefore, the big question mark in terms of the merits of the request for admission to the UEFA Football Association of Kosovo. Consideration of this issue and possible green light Football Association of Kosovo could lead to divisions among members and to open the way to many applications for admission to membership of UEFA, and all because of, I repeat, this precedent. Football Association of  Kosovo and Metohija now exists and is part of the Football Association of Serbia, which was established by the Statute of the Football Association of Serbia, which was delivered after the adoption of the UEFA and FIFA and that there were no objections.

Football clubs from the territory of Kosovo and Metohija (the Serbian players) have their own competition, and they are included in the system of the football sport where jurisdiction has FAS. This raises the big question that, in the case of accepting of Kosovo, these clubs will continue to exist, and where they will be competing? There is also the question of principle that federations whose countries have do not recognize Kosovo as an independent state, will they organize mutual matches and how it will apply the protocol before the match in this case? I want to emphasize that the whole case raises the question of safety and security in stadiums on the territory of Kosovo, as club licensing system for UEFA competitions did not go through the usual procedure provided with regulations.

Gentlemen, we are not politicians, we are not judges, but we must do everything to protect our organization and the football itself. Today, here in front of you with POLITICAL, not football proposal. And, the autonomy of football has to be guaranteed despite all political shocks. And so today we are facing huge exam. That is why today we must say NO politics in football, NO to divisions that can be followed in the case of unambiguous precedent.

To conclude, the decision on the admission of Football Association of Kosovo membership to UEFA would cause great turmoil in the region, and then opened a Pandora's box and throughout Europe. Therefore, stay true to the principles that have made this footballas it is today. FAIR PLAY! Therefore, I hope that some limits will not be crossed. Because of the future of football and our common home, UEFA, "- said Tomislav Karadzic, president of FAS.
