The journey to Greece shorter for 25 minutes: Corridor 10 through Macedonia has been completed (VIDEO)

The newly constructed section of the highway from Demir Kapija to Smokvica has been put into use yesterday in Macedonia, thus completing the Pan-European Corridor 10 through this country, Srna announced.

The section is 28 kilometers long and the total investment is worth 218 million euros.

HIGH WAY "FRIENDSHIP" 

New highway "friendship", which expects 730.000 vehicles annually, will shorten the travel to the border with Greece for  25 minutes. Although this part of the corridor 10 was the hardest to breach, Macedonia has received the most modern road section in the Balkans, built according to European standards, according to the Macedonian media.

6 BRIDGES, 4 TUNNELS, 68 CAMERAS 

There are six bridges, four tunnels and 68 cameras on the highway. The situation on the highway will be monitored through the checkpoint in Negotino.

The ceremony was attended by Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, transport ministers of Macedonia and Greece Goran Sugareski and Christopher Spircis, as well as the European Commission's Director-General for Enlargement Negotiations Christian Danielsson.

The construction of the section of Demir Kapija-Smokvica started in 2012. The European Union has invested more than 320 million euros in rail and road infrastructure in Macedonia so far.
