As a regular pilot, Vladimir Vodopivec, Senior, along with the pilot Milorad Knežev, brought down the American plane C-47 on August 19, 1946 when it entered the airspace of Yugoslavia, it stands on the website of the Aviation Museum

After our story about the pilot Vladimir Vodopivec who saved 74 passengers from certain death by managing to bring down the plane to the airport in Mogadishu, Somalia, after the explosion destroyed a part of the plane, we found out that his father, who had the same name and the same job, was the air force hero in the World War II!

As a regular pilot, Vladimir Vodopivec, along with Milorad Knežev, managed to bring down the American plane C-47 on August 19, 1946 when it entered the airspace of Yugoslavia.

All five American pilots died, and in the western world, the official reaction was that unanimous that the Yugoslavian pilots were merciless.

According to his wife Dušanka, Vladimir even survived the hijack of the plane!

Later on, as a pilot captain, Vodopivec had his first flight on the airplane S 49-C with the French engine Hispano-Suiza, the model which had a significant role in our air force squad.
