- We had a patient who was treated for the effects of Ayahuasca. He had hallucinations that lasted three days. Ayahuasca plant is from the Amazon jungle and together with the plant Chakruna has psychoactive effects. Marketed as a cure of Peruvian Indians, which leads to a "purification" or "expansion of consciousness" - says Dr. Slavica Vucinic, Head of the National Poison Control Center at the Military Medical Academy.

In this specialized institution for the diagnosis and treatment of acute poisoning around 5,000 patients are treated annually. Last year, 289 people were treated due to an overdose on psychoactive substances.

- The effects are  individual, and what is common in these experiences are hallucinations, sometimes very black, not pleasant - the doctor explains, adding that "Spice" is popular again (the first synthetic cannabinoid).

This drug is used by smoking it, and is sold as an alleged air fresheners under the names "Spice", "Jamaican Gold", "Yucatan fire". In our country it is known as "Herbal incense", "black grass", "Marsh mallow", "Sharp blueberry".

- Poisoning on these psychoactive substances includes restlessness, hallucinations, drowsiness, confusion, rapid heart rate, chest pain, shortness of breath, vomiting, impaired motor coordination. Symptoms are withdrawn from four to 14 hours, except for acute psychosis that can last for several days.

Due to its power, few tens of milligrams of substance per slide is enough, which is a herb mixture that is sprayed over a synthetic cannabinoid. This means that one kilogram of the substance can get thousands of products.

According to the World Health Organization, at least 250 million people in the world has taken at least one psychoactive substance.
