They reacted after a series of articles about a possible agreement between France and Germany to appoint a person who would be EU's special envoy for the Balkans or perhaps in charge of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue

The European Union is firmly committed to European integration of the Western Balkans, but will not comment on media reports about a possible special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, a spokesperson for the high representative for foreign policy and security, Maja Kocijancic, told the European Western Balkans.

After a series of articles about a possible agreement between France and Germany to appoint a person who would be EU's special envoy for the Balkans or perhaps in charge of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the European Western Balkans portal asked if any formal steps had been taken in this direction in the EU institutions.

Kocijancic said the EU would use all available means to accelerate the region's European integration and strategy for the Western Balkans in close cooperation with the region, EU member-states and its partners around the world.

"In addition, we don't comment on media reports," said Kocijancic.

She also recalled that the EU has a strong network of delegations in the region and that the EU high representative has a mandate to mediate in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, according to a decision of the UN General Assembly.
