Killer of 17-year-old Serb Dimitrije from Gracanica murdered: Krasniqi's own father takes his life

The suspect has been arrested, while a firearm suspected of being used in the murder has been found

Kosovo Albanian Albert Krasniqi, who shot dead Medical School student Dimitrije Popovic (17) using an automatic rifle, in the center of Gracanica on June 5, 2004, was killed last night in Pristina.

According to Informer, Albert was killed by his father Skender Krasniqi.

"The murder happened yesterday around 5 pm. The police immediately arrived at the scene. The suspect was immediately arrested, and a firearm suspected of being used in the murder has been found," the police said.

Albert Krasniqi was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison for killing the young Serb, Dimitrij Popovic, with shots fired from an automatic rifle. This brutal murder happened at a fast food kiosk where Popovic and his friends where eating.

An Audi driven by Labinot Gashi stopped in front of the kiosk. Albert Krasniqi was also in the car, and without any reason or cause, he fired in burst mode in the direction of the kiosk were several people were standing at that moment.

Popovic was shot in the head and died on the spot. Although he was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison, Krasniqi served only four.
