Epidemiologist of the Institute for Protection of Public Health of Vojvodina Dr. Mioljub Ristic has told Radio-Television of Vojvodina (RTV) that on Tuesday, the largest number of people with coronavirus was registered in Vojvodina in the last four months.

"Including yesterday, we have registered the largest number in the last four months in the territory of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Nearly 500 cases, of which 157 in the city of Novi Sad. There are more than 4,000 active cases in Vojvodina, and over 1,000 in Novi Sad," said Dr. Ristic.

As he stated, there is no municipality in Vojvodina where the situation is favorable.

"When it comes to the number of active cases, the situation is unfavorable in the territory of the entire province," says Dr. Ristic and adds that the situation in the 31 municipalities in the province could soon be characterized as an emergency.

Speaking about vaccination, epidemiologist Ristic presented data that shows about 44 percent of people in Vojvodina have received two doses of the vaccine, while in Novi Sad that number is slightly over 56 percent.

The third dose, as of yesterday, was received by about 30,000 inhabitants in the province, said Dr. Ristic and concluded that we are in the fifth wave of the coronavirus epidemic, and that a constant increase in the number of cases is expected over the next two weeks.
