Young North Macedonia model with criminal record blown up by 1.5 kilos of penthrite in Belgrade apartment
Martin Sipkovski (21), a citizen of North Macedonia, was killed in an explosion that occurred on October 1 at around 21:30 in an apartment in Kosovska Street in Belgrade.
According to unofficial information, there was about 1.5 kilograms of the penthrite explosive in the rented apartment, which blew it up and damaged two others.
His identity was established during the autopsy and the exchange of data between the Serbian and North Macedonian police regarding DNA traces. Also unofficially, the young man had an extensive criminal record.
Martin Sipkovski was previously known to the prosecuting authorities in North Macedonia, and was last year mentioned in the local media media there as a young man who "replaced playing handball with modeling."
He was reported about as the first North Macedonian who signed a contract with a prestigious fashion agency in Istanbul and a student of the Faculty of Business and Management in Skopje.
Due to a neck injury, he abandoned his greatest love - handball, which he played for the Vardar club. It is currently unknown when he entered the world of crime.
Martin Sipkovski died due to unprofessional handling of the explosive penthrite, which was allegedly intended for the murder of drug dealers, fans and members of criminal organizations from New Belgrade, while Filip V. (26) was arrested on suspicion of handing over the explosives to Sipkovski for safekeeping.
The force of the blast completely destroyed the apartment where the model was staying, and damaged two apartments next to it. The police arrested Filip V. (26) who sold the explosives, but he did not want to say how he got it or who exactly it was intended for.
Man arrested
Filip V. was questioned at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade on suspicion that on September 30, 2025, he illegally acquired and then carried an explosive substance - penthrite, which he handed over to the North Macedonia at the corner of Kosovska and Nusiceva streets.
During the hearing, the suspect briefly denied committing the crime, but did not want to answer any questions.
Afterwards, the prosecution proposed to the judge for the preliminary proceedings of the Higher Court in Belgrade to keep the suspect in custody as a flight risk, and someone who might repeat the criminal offense in a short period of time. The investigation order charges the suspect with the criminal offense of illegal production, possession, carrying and trafficking of weapons and explosive substances.
What is penthrite?
Penthrite, pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), is a highly powerful explosive in the form of white crystals. Due to its high destructive power and relative sensitivity, it is used for detonators, military formulations and plastic explosives, but also poses a serious safety risk if improperly stored or handled.
PETN is a very strong energetic compound that is often used as the initial explosive in detonators, but also as an integral part of some commercial and military explosives. Due to its sensitivity to impact, friction and heat, it is subject to strict control and transport measures. It has also been used in terrorist attacks, which is why its production and distribution is carefully monitored in many countries.
