Drunk driver was speeding at 132 KILOMETERS PER HOUR! He killed parents and their 9-year-old child

A suspected drunk driver who on Sunday killed three people in New Belgrade has been identified as 24-year-old Nikola DJ., a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and was today questioned at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office (VJT).

Nikola DJ. is suspected of non compliance with traffic regulations that resulted in the death of three persons, while another suffered serious injuries.

During the questioning, the suspect decided not to speak, the prosecution announced.

Afterward the questioning, the prosecution asked a preliminary proceedings judge from the Higher Court in Belgrade to keep the suspect custody as a flight risk, and also to prevent him from influencing witnesses, repeating the criminal offense in a short period of time, and because his actions caused distress to the public.

Nikola DJ. is charged with committing a serious crime against public traffic safety, which is punishable by a prison sentence of 5 to 15 years.

The prosecution said in a statement that the suspect, who drove an Audi A4, acted in gross violation of traffic rules, during which he did not show consideration for the safety of others, was heavily inebriated and also under the influence of marijuana.

In addition, Nikola DJ. is suspected of running a red light while speeding at 132 kilometers per hour (Km/h) in a street with the 50 Km/h speed limit, before crashing into the car in which the three victims were traveling.

A passenger who was in the suspect's vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries.
