Vucevic: Serbia is being destabilized to complete Kosovo and Metohija story and break up RS
Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader and presidential adviser Milos Vucevic said on Wednesday that Serbia is being destabilized by those who would like to "wrap up the story" regarding the province of Kosovo and Metohija, and who want to break up the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Speaking at the Euronews Adria Summit conference in Belgrade, Vucevic also pointed out that the Serbs are a factor of peace and stability in the region.
"Serbia now cannot deal with the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and we don't have enough time for Banjaluka or Trebinje, instead we are dealing with whether we can pass through the street and whether suddenly someone has kicked students out into the streets and is denying the children the right to education", Vucevic said at the panel "The EU and the Western Balkans" in which he participated together with the elected president of the RS, Milorad Dodik.
Vucevic stressed that many in the region are happy about the unstable situation in Serbia, which is confirmed by the media reports about it.
"Then look at those important EU and NATO member states where a Serbian cultural evening cannot be held," Vucevic stated.
Speaking about the situation in the region, Vucevic pointed out that someone in the region and outside it thinks it is time for a showdown with Serbia and the RS.
He assessed that sometimes it seems as if only the Serb people insist on peace and stability in the region.
"While other nations, using some geopolitical circumstances, probably see their opportunity to create trouble, trouble in the region. We are a state-building nation, a nation that has experienced both the good and the bad, and we probably carry ourselves based on that and understand some circumstances or some things that are happening. And I am under the impression that some here in the region, listening to those outside the region, think now is the time for a showdown with us, with Serbia, with the RS," said Vucevic.
The main topics of the first Euronews Adria Summit are geopolitical challenges, preparations for EXPO 2027, economic forecasts for the coming year, the relationship between media and politics, diplomatic perspectives, and steps towards EU integration.
President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabic spoke at the opening of the gathering, while Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric, Ambassador of Hungary Jozsef Magyar, Director General of Telekom Serbia Vladimir Lucic, Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek, representatives of businesses and regional media are among the participants.
The conference is organized by the media company Euronews Serbia, and its goal is to present its regional network, which, in addition to the studio in Belgrade, now includes those in Bosnia and Herzegovina with headquarters in Sarajevo and the one in Montenegro.
