The Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) will be reorganized and the issue of the future operation of Elektrovojvodina, electricity distributer which is part of the EPS, should not be politicized, Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Antic said Tuesday

The plan is to set up a single electrical energy distributor for the whole country and it will be composed of the five distribution systems we have now, including, of course, Elektrovojvodina, Antic said.

He said that Elektrovojvodina’s property had already been part of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia's assets for years, stressing that “nobody will take those assets anywhere.”

Only certain organizational changes have been planned, he said.

“It is not good that the provincial administration and a number of parties in Vojvodina should be trying to politicize the restructuring of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia,” said Antic.

The Vojvodina province’s assembly adopted conclusions today in which it is seeking to have Elektrovojvodina remain an independent distributor.
