Vucic expects contracts, Sobotka offers knowledge,investment

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said Wednesday that Czech firm Mitas would invest EUR 18 million in its factory in Ruma, northern Serbia, and open jobs for 200 to 250 more people.

Speaking at a press conference folowing a meeting of Czech and Serbian businessmen, he said that he expected more contracts to be signed with Czech firms by year's end, announcing the arrival of EUR 10 to 12 million worth of investment in renewable energy and chemical industry.

Thanking Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka for visiting Serbia and for devoting a lot of attention to our country, Vucic said that Serbia wanted to learn from the Czech Repuplic, Europe's fastest growing economy at the moment.

Prime Minister Sobotka said he was confident that relations between the two countries, especially in the area of economy, was brimming with unused potential, and he brought about 30 representatives of Czech firms to Serbia to support the development of relations and economic cooperation.

We can offer our knowledge and investment in various areas, from infrastructure and railways to modernization in the energy, coal and renewable energy sectors, Sobotka said, adding that certain cooperation plans were already being prepared.
