- The passenger stood up and tried to do something at the door, but was prevented from doing so by the members of the crew and other passengers - said Lufthansa spokesman Andreas Bartels.

Bartels said that by the end of the flight the passenger was sitting in his place, and that after landing in Belgrade he was handed over to the Serbian authorities.

- It was an ordinary door, which of course cannot be opened during flight. This was not the cockpit door. Flight safety was not compromised and the plane landed safely in Belgrade - said Bartels, AFP reported.

He did not reveal the identity of the passenger, nationality, or whether he said something during the incident, although the Belgrade media earlier reported that the incident was caused by a Jordanian citizen with an American passport.
