- This is just another scam in a row and a provocation which has its purpose to discredit me morally and politically. The alleged photo has been evidently tampered with, and it was not taken in 1996 but in 1993 on the beach in the city of Split, during the Croatian Liberation Army celebration. I recognize two members of this unit and their official garment - replied Hasanbegović to the Hina news agency because of the photo and the text under the title "Dot on U".

He reminded that the members of this unit have been posthumously given a monument in this city, presented by the mayor of Split, Ivo Baldasar

- All other things are just insinuations and I have no intent on commenting that - stated Croatian Minister of Culture.

Editor in chief of the "Novosti" news agency, Ivica Đikić, stated that they had found the photo in the magazine "Independent Croatian State" and that this can be checked in University library whether someone had tampered with the photo.

- The magazine is there and the photo is there also. I do not know when the photo was taken but it was published in 1996. I do not claim that there is a U letter (sign of pro-fascist collaborators) on it, but that the cap is theirs. You can see for yourself whether the photo was tampered with - concluded Đikić.
