They well in love when Senija was just 9 years old.

- We loved each other very much. Our parents allowed us to date and to make love, although I didn't know that I can have a baby that young. No one has told me - said the underage mother.

Senija is literate. She studied up to the seventh grade of elementary school. She did not talk to her parents about puberty and reproductive health, nor could she learn anything about it at the school she had left before finishing. She learned about sex from him, also a minor boyfriend.

Only when she started suffering from nausea and when she began to vomit, her mother, Mina, suspected her daughter could be pregnant. She gave money to her boyfriend Medijak to buy a pregnancy test, which was positive.

Forty-six-year-old mother-in-law is happy that she has become a grandmother and that she has a grandchild bearing her name - Mina.

Young parents are not married because Senija does not have a birth certificate. Birth certificates are being done for the underage mother and her baby. They live from collecting and selling plastic bottles.

The civil sector seeks to introduce sex education as a special subject in primary schools, but it has not yet been accepted. In the meantime, NGOs, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, organize lectures held by gynecologists and social workers.

Non-governmental organization H.E.R.A. proposes a legal limit to the minors so they can't get married below the age of 18, but also the education of young people before entering into sexual relations and measures to reduce poverty.

The most common cause of juvenile pregnancy in Macedonia is the low level of parent education, socioeconomic status, unemployment, poverty, as well as traditions.
