I entered the most unusual church in Trebinje and I was speechless: On the walls paintings of famous writers and scientists (PHOTO) (VIDEO)

I like to travel and visit new places, and most of all I like when I come across a landscape or a building that tells a special story with its beauty. This happened to me this weekend in Trebinje when I had the opportunity to visit the Cathedral of the Holy Transfiguration of the Lord, located in the city center, in the park of Jovan Ducic.

Serbs will lose Hilandar monastery if they go with Moscow: Split of the Orthodox church threatens with immeasurable consequences

Its appearance is different from other temples because many different styles are intertwined here. The influences of Romanesque, Gothic and Byzantine style can be recognized.

However, what sets this church apart from others is that the famous Serbs from national history are painted beside the saints of the Serbian Orthodox Church, among them emperors, kings, military leaders, poets, scientists.

This temple was built from 1888 to 1908, and the famous Montenegrin artist Marko Gregovic worked on it, while he was assisted by Atanasije Popovic from Trebinje, a later academic painter.

During the renovation, the old iconostasis was removed, a new floor was made, and a park has been decorated in the yard, with a small pond and a bridge, and with the facilities for the youngest.

In addition to the church, there is also an eparchy home with a library in this complex, where the Serbian school was founded in 1908.

What was especially interesting to me about this church was its frescoes. In addition to the great number of saints, there are also important Serbs who left a lot of knowledge to their people.

So on the south and north entrance to the temple, I saw Milos Obilic, Emperor Dusan Nemanjic, Djordje Petrovic - Karadjordje, Milos Obrenovic, King Petar I Karadjordjevic, King Aleksandar...

Poets were painted on the walls of the temple, Desanka Maksimovic, Jovan Ducic, Aleksa Santic and Petar II Petrovic Njegos, scientists Nikola Tesla, Milutin Milankovic and Mihajlo Pupin, military leaders Milos Obilic, Luka Vukalovic, Bogdan Zimonjic, Zivojin Misic and Stepa Stepanovic, Gavrilo Princip...

Every part of this temple is extremely vividly painted, and if the walls could speak, they would tell the rich history of our people.
