Pristina ever farther from forming new government: Kurti and Mustafa still without agreement

An informal deadline for reaching an agreement on a new Pristina government expires today - it was set by the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) Isa Mustafa a few days ago to Self-Determination leader Albin Kurti - and as things stand, the agreement is still uncertain.

As Kosovo Online reports, media in Pristina deal with this topic today, recalling that 112 days have already passed since the election and yet no government has been formed.

The key to reaching an agreement has been whether Glauk Konjufca would resign as president of the Pristina assembly and thus meet LDK's condition, since the party wants this position - which Self-Determination has explicitly rejected.

Meanwhile, information emerged that Self-Determination offered as many as seven ministerial posts in the future government to LDK instead, along with the possibility of appointing Hashim Thaci's successor next year, when his mandate as president of the provisional institutions expires.

Yesterday, it was also heard that Kurti and Mustafa had met in secret in the home of the LDK leader and had a long conversation, but no official information has emerged about the meeting.

In any case, the deadline for Albin Kurti to put together a ruling coalition is slowly coming to an end. By law, he has eight days left to reach an agreement with the LDK.

What is noticeable is that the members and leadership of Self-Determination are united in their views, while within LDK, there are two faction with different views when it comes to reaching a coalition with Kurti' party.

On one side is Vjosa Osmani and party members who share her view on the need to reach an agreement with Self-Determination, and on the other Agim Veli, who gathers hardliners opposed to such a coalition. Isa Mustafa is clearly between those two options.

To answer the question of what will happen in the end - will either of these parties decide to give in and allow for an agreement to be reached, or will there be another outcome, where a coalition without Self-Determination, but also new elections, are possible - will have to wait a few more days, Kosovo Online concludes.
