Seven police officers have been arrested in North Macedonia because of a party that violated the ban on gatherings introduced due to the coronavirus epidemic, the news portal a1on.mk reported today.

There were 15 people at last night's party in the village of Kuklica near Kratovo, and the policemen were reported by the locals who were bothered by loud music and noise.

As the policemen and the civilians who were at the party resisted arrest when a patrol arrived from Kratovo, a special police unit of North Macedonia - the "Rapid Deployment Unit" (EBR) - was called in to carry out the arrest.

"Everyone was handcuffed and taken to the police station, and the prosecutor's office was informed that it should seek punishment for non-compliance with measures to prevent COVID-19 and for a violation of the Criminal Code," a1on.mk writes.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reiterates that it does not have enough manpower to supervise the implementation of measures against coronavirus, while, on the other hand, police officers are violating regulations and organizing parties, the portal writes.
