Director of the Office of the Government of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric met today in Brussels with the EU Special Representative for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, ahead of a new round of expert talks between Belgrade and Pristina.

Earlier, the head of the Pristina delegation, Skender Hyseni, met with the EU representative, after which all three sides should continue talks on missing and displaced persons and economic issues.

Today's round of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina at the expert level is expected to end around 6:30 pm.

This is the third round of expert talks since the resumption of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina in mid-July, when Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of the Provisional Institutions in Pristina Avdullah Hoti met in Brussels, with the mediation of EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and the EU special representative.

According to the EU mediator's plan, after the talks at the highest political level teams of experts discuss the details of the topics raised at that level.

"For us, quality is more important than speed. We are focused on reaching a comprehensive legally binding agreement, but it also means that it will be signed when all open issues have been resolved between Belgrade and Pristina," EU spokesman Peter Stano told Tanjug on that occasion.

During his talks with Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti on July 16, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stressed the importance of resolving the issue of missing and displaced persons from the area of Kosovo and Metohija.

At the same time, Vucic stressed that economic relations and agreements are in the interest of both parties, but that this doesn't imply either war compensation or any indirect recognition of an independent state in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija.

The new round of talks at the high political level between Belgrade and Pristina has been announced for the beginning of September, most likely on September 7, immediately after the talks between the two sides in Washington on September 4.
