Due to snow and heavy rainfall, the situation in Kosovo and Metohija has worsened in many municipalities, where rivers and streams have overflowed, blocking roads and flooding homes.

The police in Djakovica have announced that evacuations are likely to be needed due to the floods that hit the municipality.

The entrances to the town and a large number of houses have been flooded, as well as many roads, due to heavy rains and snowfall, reports Gazeta Express.

The Republic Hydrometeorological Service (RHMZ) has issued a hydrological report that says water levels on the Tamis and Brzava rivers will be rising, and that they will be above the limit of regular flood defenses.

"On the Tamis, water levels will rise until January 10 and will reach above the limit of regular flood defenses, while on Brzava the peak of the wave is expected within the next 24 hours and will move above the limit of regular flood defenses," the first RHMZ warning states.

The water level on the Tamis, by the way, has increased by more than 2 meters.

This morning at 6:35 the RHMZ also issued a warning announcing the formation of snow cover on the mountains from 15 to 30 centimeters deep, with the warning valid until Sunday, January 11.

"On Sunday afternoon and on Monday, partial melting of the snow cover will occur, especially in the south."
