President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic met on Thursday afternoon with Special Representative of the European Union for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and other regional issues of the Western Balkans Miroslav Lajcak.

Half an hour later, the special envoy of the US State Department for the Western Balkans, Matthew Palmer, joined the meeting in Belgrade.

The dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina should continue between June 14 and 17, it has been agreed during the meeting, reports Blic.

A session of the UN Security Council is scheduled for June 8. The final verdict on charged of genocide against Ratko Mladic before the International Mechanism for Criminal Courts, the successor of the Hague Tribunal, is scheduled for that same day.

It is not yet known whether Vucic will travel to New York to directly participate in the work of the Security Council.

In that atmosphere the dialogue will continue from which the United States expects Serbia to recognize Kosovo's independence in some way, while the authorities in Pristina refuse to negotiate even on the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO).

After the meeting with the high officials, the president of Serbia took to Instagram and, along with a joint photo, posted that he believes in a compromise solution.

"The dialogue with Pristina will continue soon and I believe in the possibility of reaching a compromise solution," Vucic said in the post on Instagram.

The president of Serbia will address the public on Friday and speak about the details of the meeting held with the high officials, he will also talk about Kosovo and Metohija, the upcoming negotiations in Brussels, Serbia's progress on the European path, talks with opposition representatives, important state issues and his participation in the Security Council session on June 8.

Palmer and Lajcak arrived in Belgrade after meetings with Pristina officials

The meeting between EU and US officials with president of Serbia followed Lajcak and Palmer's meetings in Kosovo and Metohija, where they spoke with representatives of the provisional Pristina institutions.

As Lajcak said, the purpose of the visit was to prepare for the first high-level meeting between Pristina Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, which will be held in a few days in Brussels.

In Pristina, Palmer reiterated the position that the United States strongly supporting the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina which should result in reaching a final agreement and mutual recognition. At a joint press conference with Miroslav Lajcak, he said that the United States is not a party in the dialogue but a partner whose goal was improving relationship between the two sides.

He also said that the ZSO, which is the backbone of the Brussels Agreements, should be formed in accordance with the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina.

At the same time, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic warned yesterday that pressure on Serbia is increasing, but that the state is looking to get the most out of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina for Serbia and its people.
