In Belgrade, 300,000 citizens have already received the third, booster dose of the Covid vaccine, while the number of those who are getting the first dose is increasing every day, said the city secretary for social protection, Natasa Stanisavljevic.

Speaking on TV Pink, she presented data that says 1,938,000 doses have been administered in Belgrade so far, i.e. 837,000 citizens have been vaccinated with the first dose, which is more than 60.39 percent, while 800,000 people or 57 percent have gotten the second.

"Since the introduction of Covid passes, that is, since last Monday, the number of people getting vaccinated with the first dose has been increasing in Belgrade. When we look at the results, between 800 and 1,000 citizens were vaccinated with the first dose the week before, and already last week that number was between 1,400 and 1,600 people. That's still much less than in March and April, when about 5,000 people would get vaccinated daily with the first dose, but it's important to see an increase and that is why we must make appeals on citizens every day that vaccination is the only way to get out of this situation," said Stanisavljevic.

She stressed that (medical) professionals should talk to young people as much as possible, and added that the experience from the field confirms this, the Secretariat for Information announced.

"It's important that we fight daily with the facts and truth against conspiracy theories and inaccurate information that is being spread. And the truth is, as the doctors say, that more than six billion doses of the vaccines have been administered around the world," said Stanisavljevic.

She said that the number of vaccinated young people in Belgrade aged 18 to 30 is encouraging, and that this number being 33.3 percent, the capital is the best in Serbia.

"We are happy to have three city municipalities, Stari Grad, Vracar and Savski Venac which have exceeded 50 percent when it comes to the vaccination of young people. On the other hand, Obrenovac, Lazarevac and Sopot remained below 20 percent in that population. That's why we work in the field every day, print educational materials, brochures, hold forums on the importance of vaccination," said Stanisavljevic.

She stressed that there are currently two vaccination points in the shopping malls in Usce and Belgrade Waterfront.

"Vaccination is organized there every day from 12 noon to 8 pm, they have been open for more than three weeks and so far about 10,000 Belgraders have been vaccinated there.

We decided to open four more vaccination points from November 15, it will be possible to get vaccinated at the shopping center in Rajiceva Street, the shopping center Stadion, in the BEO Shopping mall, and we are negotiating with Ikea and another shopping center in New Belgrade. In addition, we have 25 points in all healthcare centers in the city, as well as in Hall 7 of the Belgrade Fair, which is open every day from 8 am to 4 pm," the city secretary for social protection pointed out.

She added that all vaccination points are accessible, call centers are still open in all city municipalities so that older people who have difficulty moving as well as the disabled can call, and a team will come to their home to vaccinate them.
