The villages in the eastern part of Serbia, at the foot of the Rtanj Nountain, used to be just a stop for tourists on their way to Sokobanja, who wanted to get to know wider surroundings of this spa, that Branislav Nusic also wrote about.

In recent years, thanks to the increasing number of those who want to try their hand at mountaineering, the Sokobanja villages of Muzinac and Sarbanovac have become the starting point for climbing Rtanj.

At the same time, while developing mountain tourism, the locals in Muzinac and Sarbanovac recognized the opportunity to offer accommodation to nature lovers and keep them in their area for longer.

Ethno-households at the foot of Rtanj are reporting an increasing number of overnight stays, and as the ascent to Rtanj is attractive throughout the year, accommodations in Muzinac and Sarbanovac are often filled.

The very sight of Rtanj, a mystical natural pyramid that intrigues researchers because to its unusual magnetic fields, arouses admiration among visitors and a desire to reach the Siljak peak, where the remains of a chapel are located.

From Muzinac and Sarbanovac, it takes a little more than three hours to walk to the top, from which, when the weather is clear, you can see half of Serbia.

Despite the fact that Rtanj is not very easy to conquer, for many, this mountain is the first whose summit they managed to reach, and because of the breathtaking beauty of its nature, they often return.
