State Department: Start discussions on establishment of Community of Serb Municipalities

"Kosovo and Serbia must implement the agreements signed in the dialogue process, including the start of talks to establish the community of municipalities with a Serb majority," the US State Department told the Albanian Post, according to Kosovo Online.

"The withdrawal of Kosovo Serbs from institutions is not a solution to current disputes and has the potential for further escalation of tensions on the ground. All parties must take steps to reduce tensions and ensure peace and stability," a State Department spokesperson told this portal.

Actions and rhetoric that increase the possibility of violence, as further stated, expose innocent lives and international peacekeepers on the ground to unnecessary risks.

The spokesperson also stressed that the United States "agrees with the European Union that recent events are troubling and jeopardize the important progress made so far in the EU-mediated dialogue."
