President of the Provincial Government of Vojvodina Igor Mirovic on Thursday received the famous Russian director and member of the State Duma, Nikolai Petrovich Burlyayev, who is in Novi Sad as a participant in the forum organized by Matica Srpska and the Matica Srpska Library.

The meeting discussed the exchange of cultural creativity, bearing in mind the importance of Novi Sad on the European cultural map.

Opinions were exchanged on current political issues, especially the relationship between the Serbian and Russian people, and the challenges they face. There was also talk about intensifying work on programs in the realm of culture.

Mirovic accepted Burlyayev's invitation to participate in the 14th International Slavic Literary Forum "Golden Knight" in October 2024 in Moscow.

Nikolai Petrovich Burlyayev was born in 1946. He gained world fame as an actor in Andrei Tarkovsky's films "Ivan's Childhood" and "Andrei Rublev." He shot more than 60 films and television series. He was awarded the Order of Saint Sava, first degree, a top decoration given by the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The reception in the Provincial Government was also attended by the President of Matica Srpska Dragan Stanic and the head of the Matica Srpska Librabry Selimir Radulovic.
