Major police and prosecution operation in Serbia and EU over fake bomb threats

A major police operation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of Serbia and the Prosecutor's Office for High-Tech Crime is underway over the false reports about bombs being planted in schools, the MUP has told Telegraf.rs.

Unofficially, suspects from Serbia and European Union countries are being detained.

A search is underway at several locations.

The statement

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced yesterday that an extensive international operation is expected to be carried out today to arrest persons connected to frequent reports about explosive devices being planted in various educational institutions in the territory of Serbia.

The MUP said that it cooperates intensively with all relevant institutions on the national and international level to identify the IP addresses of those who send these emails, and users of the addresses.

From the beginning of the 2023/2024 school year until today, a total of 80 reports were received. sent to several dozen email addresses of various educational institutions in Serbia, said the MUP.
