President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said today that a gas connection will be built to the border with Romania, from Belgrade to Mokrin, and that this project is being negotiated with the Romanians.

Vucic stressed that building gas pipelines is particularly important for the development of the industry. During a tour of the works on the "Smile of Vojvodina" 185.5-kilometer high speed road, which go from Backi Breg to Srpska Crnja, he answered a journalist's question about the announced gas connection Mokrin-Belgrade and said that the interconnection is awaiting an agreement with the Romanians.

"We are working on gasification, that is why we are bringing gas down to the foothills of the Zlatibor region. So, to Nova Varos, to Prijepolje and Priboj, so that these people can get gas, and Aleksandrovac-Tutin is now being completed, the steel part is done, now the 'plastic' (pipes) must be laid in towns. That's what we call it. Those main gas pipelines are made of steel, and then you bring the 'plastic' to the final consumers, and that is good for ecology, environmental protection, and then it is also good for the industry," explained Vucic.

There is one country in the region that doesn't have a gas pipeline at all, and when you don't have a gas pipeline, then you don't have the industry either, added Vucic.

He explained that what is important is the industry, new technologies, artificial intelligence and added that this is what Serbia must invest in.
