Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic has met with Janos Babic, the new head of the Council of Europe office in Belgrade, and reiterated during the conversation our country's position that the request of the Pristina authorities for membership in that organization is unacceptable.

"Minister Dacic used the opportunity to repeat to the interlocutor our views on the inadmissibility of the request of so-called 'Kosovo' for membership in the Council of Europe, and expressed his gratitude to all member-states that showed understanding for the position of the Republic of Serbia," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

It added that Dacic congratulated Babic on his new post and expressed satisfaction regarding the support that the Council of Europe has been providing to Serbia for over 20 years. He stressed that Serbia is dedicated and persistent in implementing the values of this organization.
