23-year-old M.I. was arrested on Wednesday in Belgrade on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs.

Telegraf.rs has learned that the young man was on his electric bike, working as a food courier, when he was stopped during a routine traffic control.

The police found several packages of a substance believed to be marijuana found in his bag that was supposed to contain food, as well as a large amount of a powdery substance suspected to be amphetamine.

The drugs were confiscated and will be sent for examination, while the investigation in the case is led by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office (VTJ) in Belgrade.

The suspect is now in police custody that can last up to 48 hours, after which he will be brought before a prosecutor, along with a criminal complaint.

The police will continue to work on establishing all the facts relevant to this case, including whether the suspect worked as part of a wider network of drug traffickers and dealers.
