The 2025-26 winter in Serbia will be colder compared to the five previous ones and according to Professor Aleksandar Valjarevic from the Faculty of Geography, more snow is also expected.

Professor Valjarevic says that he believes the temperature on the mountains could drop to -20 degrees Celsius, while in the cities it could range from -10 to -12 degrees.

He expects it to be around -20 degrees in the mountains in the mornings, and around -10 to -15 in the cities.

"This winter will not be completely like they used to be, but when I looked at the oscillations they were not identical to last year's satellite images. The West-Siberian oscillation appeared, which is right next to the North-Atlantic oscillation, and I am optimistic that there will be a little more snow than last year," he said, and added:

"I am cautious about this, since it is very difficult to predict, but I am sure that the winter will be colder than the last, especially the last decade of November and from December 15 to the New Year. I expect more precipitation after January 15."

The professor also said that there will be some snow cover even below 1,000 meters above sea level, and after November 20 he expects more than 20 centimeters of snow in the mountains.

"As far as snow is concerned, it all depends on whether the cyclone will break through. If it does, more precipitation is expected. If the anticyclone remains, there will be less precipitation, but temperatures will certainly be lower than last year," Valjarevic said of the coming winter in Serbia, as reported by the Instagram account "opstina_arandjelovac_info".
